You'll need a 64-oz. Mason jar. I estimate what I need by multiplying the # ounces of the blend by 4. Two ounces of tobacco fits nicely inside an 8-oz. Mason. You can usually cram a little more in. I don't try to greatly compress the tobacco when filling a jar.
This is a question that can go around for ages, especially in regards to aging but since you’re most likely going to be opening the jar to smoke from regularly, I wouldn’t over think it and do what’s most comfortable.but perhaps there’s a reason it’s ribbon and not flake or plug…

I’d say that’s about right from my experience.My general rule is 1 oz of tobacco needs 4 fl oz of jar volume if packed firmly. Less room if the blend is very moist, and more if it's dry.
