Ok, the wife and I went to Targét and picked up 3 cases of quart Ball jars, which should be good for 18 pounds, so I’ll possibly need another flat to hold all the RYO from the passive-agressive divorce sale. I need to make some calls and see if these bags have been treated for mold. I suspect not, since they ship dry. Mark Ryan packaged most of his tobacco blends that way. I’ll damped the RYO a bit pack ot into jars and cellar it for a fewish years. I’ll do a control jar straight from the bag, too. I’m thinking the RYO will be a great base for a Balkan pressed kake. Or Vaper. I have a few different Periques I could try. Might go well with the Acadian?

A gallon is overkill. IMO

I use a lot of 32 oz jars due to the cost of jars in general. All this talk of 64 and one gallon jars is awesome.

Don't you all worry about the blends fading once you crack open your one gallon of tobacco x when it's properly aged?

I usually pack into 4 and 8oz jars, but all this RYO is too much. I put it up slightly damp, it doesn’t fade. Been doing it like this for ten years

Warning: be sure that the tobacco has been previosly treated with an antifungal, or do so yourself. I’ve posted about how to do that (relatively easy), and will repost if there’s interest.

My Exhaustive Research!

After jarring 6# of C&D blenders, my research has led me to this conclusion over the question of What Size Jar for One Pound of Tobacco:

You are all correct.

Most ribbon and cube cuts fit 8oz/Qt. Ball Jar with varying amounts of compression.
Fit also depends on moisture content of the tobacco, with moister blends being much more compressible.

Rubbed flake like C&D Virginia Flake fits 16oz to a quart jar with minimal compression.

Thank you for your contributions. You will all be named as co-authors once this paper is accepted for publication.
