I have just picked up this nice looking Prince from the bay.
So who made it any ideas?
I know the olde 49 range was slightly higher than standard and hope some one can narrow down the maker by shape number/COM mark etc

thanks Al,I have seen it speculated that it could be an Orlik shape number ,but I am hopeful someone will either comfirm or deny it.

It's been my understanding that Belway was a product of the Barling factory.

Mike S.
If you mean Bewlay,Mike
they were an English tobacconist chain and had pipes made by Barlings,Charatan.Orlik and sasieni and maybe others.Sold stamped with the Bewlay name and finishes.
That is why I hope an expert can narrow it down

Mr G. Huybrecht also made pipes for Bewlay. Mike Blakemar took over his stamps after he passed away.
Among those Bewlay Extra, Olde 49, Quaint and Special Grain

Paul, you will know if it's a Group 1 size pipe or not (Don's 258 Dunhill example) immediately.

Interesting reading on pipedia about Belway. I didn't remember that they were formerly Salmon & Gluckstein. I have a Salmon & Gluckestein with a silver band hallmarked for 1896.
