He is the best one on one player in the world, big, strong, fast, incredible shot. He just doesn't have the mental makeup to be the best player in the game, he doesn't push himself.

As a Caps fan, I can only hope that this upset makes Ovie mad and hungry, but I'm not very optimistic. It looks like the Olympics will be my only hope for hockey glory. USA plays in a couple of hours, I'll be watching the score via my NHL phone app.

He is absolutely one of the best "players" in the game, but he shouldn't be wearing the "C". As a Flyers fan I have seen O tear up the game on more than one occasion with his physical prowess. Not sure how the boys respect him in the dressing room though.

I agree Al, Crosby has done nothing special. The difference is he often finds the extra gear when it matters most, in 2010 he sucked the whole tournament as well, but when it mattered most he scored "the Golden Goal" as we call it in Canada. The other thing with Crosby is he has additional elements to his game if he's not scoring, he makes others around him better (see Chris Kunitz) and that is why he is universally regarded as the best player in the game.

The US looks fantastic, I'm not looking forward to having to play them in the Semis if they get past the Chech Republic (which I'm pretty sure they will). Canada's 4 lines are better over all, but the first two lines of the US team are scary good and Kessel is absolutely on fire. I think he's trying to establish himself as one of the world's top players, which is great for this long suffering Leaf's fan. I just want him to be quiet for one game however!

Seriously? A nail biter with Latvia? Russia loses their quarterfinal to the Finns? Don't get me wrong, the Finns looked good in the game against Canada. They were quick, played a good team game, but they still spent most of their game in their own end. Something tells me that this is only going to become more stress inducing before all is said and done.

Hats off to the Latvian goalie, that was an epic performance...
Crazy frustrating to watch though, once again our D bails us out...

I'm actually glad I was at work and only catching updates on my phone. I don't think I'd have fingernails left if I were watching the game at home.
Am I reading the brackets right? Are the semis Finland v. Sweden and USA v. Canada? If so, does anyone else sort of feel like Sweden or Finland is getting lucky?

Yep, USA v. Canada...
I had no intentions of watching the game, I figured I'd listen to it on the radio between stops today for work but my schedule changed and found myself working at home again. Of course I was pulling for Canada, but there was really a sense of impending doom after every shot on the Latvian net. They need to step up if we hope to have a chance against the US.
Oh, and Tavares is done for the Olympics with a knee injury...

I've been loving olympic hockey; So many of my NHL faves are playing so well. I only hope it translates to the rest of the season. Here's hoping TJ helps us bring home the gold and the Stanley Cup!

See, here's the thing about Canada. We may not always win, but we never quit. Way to go girls!

Frickin' nail biter, that was.
Okay, the women delivered two golds today, now we need the men to do the same tomorrow.

I think the Americans were the better team but the Canadian goalie was incredible. The Canadians just ground out the win.
