Hello. I am 57 years old and decided to try it. My father smoked pipes for 50 years (18-70). He is still alive today (90) and is healthy other than a bad knee/back. We made him quit at 70 because my mom had heart failure. I had mild asthma as a child and was into sports so in 1980 he only smoked outside. Needless to say i now feel guilty for taking one of his passions away. I want to connect with him better and want to understand the pipe. I plan to visit him in Spring and want to take pipes and a really great tobacco an see if he want to smoke with me.

Well done and welcome! What a great idea! I sometimes smoke with my son, but my father was very disapproving so I never smoked in his presence.
