Hi Paul,
It's currently on its way to the Ionian Islands and the buyer shares your name, so I'm guessing this is now yours. I do hope the both of you will be very happy together. It certainly was an entertaining and educational project for me.
Many thanks, Paul.
Geoff

Im looking forward to getting it and was obviously interested in reading this thread after searching google for GBD xtra pipe after buying it.

Excellent! I feel it has gone to good home.
Without a hallmark, absolute certainty is rare (unless you have a Dunhill, I guess), but the only way I can afford to buy these pipes is by selling them on and, for me, the research is the enjoyable part and until I'm confident in its provenience, I won't sell. Al (ssjones) was instrumental and his offline help was invaluable - without his input, it would still be sitting here taunting me, so a big 'thank you' is due.
It was actually a bit of a wrench to sell this one - there's something about its form that I find really attractive (I'm sure there's some Freudian medical condition for this) - I'm not normally a fan of bulldogs, but this one is small, sleek and perfectly formed. I'll stop now before someone gets me sectioned!
Thank you for buying and I sincerely hope that you are pleased with it.
Geoff

:D There was plenty of pipe smoking going on when I was last there. I think some even smoked tobacco on occasion! Completely off-topic, I went there inter-railing with a few mates when I was 18, one of whom thought it a grand idea to challenge a few chaps from the Dutch airforce to a drinking competition. Not only did they have about 10 years on us, they selected Amaretto as the chosen poison. It ended badly.
I will take this opportunity to apologise to Paul for treating his beautiful home as a lout's playground, and to assure him that it was a long time ago and I have matured a little since then.
Sorry, I'm lowering the tone.
