Besides Ashton and pre-1960 Dunhill; which pipe makers past or present used oil curing/treatment for their pipes? Thanks

Most of the pipe makers who oil cured started with beef tallow, but as with McDonald’s were eventually forced by increasingly health conscious consumers to switch first to vegetable oil and eventually canola. Nowadays the best you can hope for is a fleeting spray of Pam™.

Completely off topic rant / on:

Increasingly propagandized consumers who were led to believe they were being health conscious by choosing production byproducts like said seed oils. Between this and the demonization of animal fats (instead of sugar and processed foods) and look how our overall health has improved! Seems like every major illness known to man is now an epidemic. And that food pyramid they gave us back in elementary school? Turn that thing upside down like a sickly frown.

Rant / off.

For the record, if i ever retired and decided to tinker with making pipes, i'd be trying a pure ruminant animal tallow curing process and seeing how many keto and carnivore doctors i could get to endorse my pipes just like the cigarette manufacturers when i was a kid. I still remember hearing "9 out of 10 doctors choose Lucky Strike!" The propaganda / advertising schemes seem to still be effective...though the topics change at whim. ;p

Some believe Sasieni oil cured their pipes as part of the pre-carb process. I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned in 2023.
