Without a foretaste, I've occasionally been popping a pack of this tobacco in my orders for the last year. Today, another, with a new Chacom pipe, so I opened the oldest pack to burn my new Cuba in.

The pipe came with a very restrictive stinger, first thing to go. Now the draught is like the chimney Fred Dibnah built for his old mum; then she couldn't sit too close to the fire because it would suck the slippers off her feet.

So, two unknowns. Nonetheless, I folded a moist, almost crumbly thin flake and stuffed it into the bowl. A little reluctant to ignite, but soon I was enjoying what? A Va/Bur? Some say St Bruno sans rose geranium and I can appreciate what they mean.

Breaking it down, it's both sweet and savoury/nutty at the same time, with a healthy dose of white pepper at the back of the palate. As a whole, it has a familiar flavour... well knock me down with a feather, that's clever, Trevor - walnuts! Whodathunkit? Yes, it actually does taste like walnuts and it's a very pleasant walnut taste.

Moving to more familiar territory of my Petetson Cara Prince, a flake referee, second bowl was maybe more muted in this pipe, but no surprise, it hasn't the Dibnah® draught of the Chacom. Still pleasant, but I found myself drifting beyond flavours, as if this were a pottering about smoke. Well, it was for many gents in the UK, so that's quite understandable; a companion smoke.

I did find my mouth watered with the Chacom and that says red virginia to me, while the nuttiness is all burley. I think, if you enjoy St Bruno, then Original would be a nice change of pace on the same theme. Certainly no regrets here, I'll come back to it when I need to potter around doing stuff, it fits the bill.
