Sorry this reply took so long, but I have been going through a lot of computer tsouris lately. Time to say Thank You! to pipesmokingtom, who sent me a pouch of that Sambuca licorice bombs. I have to say, coming from the world of cigars, that ain't much. 'Fact, I'd ordered some Five Vegas A's, Maduro wrapped, after having gotten used to the world of pipes again...and they're too strong! I can't even deal with them, and unlike pipes, once you've over-smoked part of one stick, you've ruined the entire thing. So really, I was looking forward to the Sambuca.
I ended up trying one bowl straight and was pleasantly surprised. Could it have been the same tobacco? Mine was light, sweetly balanced, and smooth. I blended it, one after another and in some combinations, with Latakia, stoved Virginia, East Carolina Ribbon, and some Perique; it did so well, and provided such a healthy base, that I mixed it with the remainder of my own codger blend. What an incredible difference! It took what was a meh sort of cherry-heavy blend with other flavors, such as bourbon, mixed in, and made it darker and more pungent, a little on the good side of musty, and reminiscent of good garden loam in the nose. Thank you, Tom, for sending that along!
Does anyone else here smoke cigars as well?
