First she bought me this, and it became a match safe.

I bought a phone stand and it became a pipe rest.

Then I bought a trinket dish and am using it to dry tobacco.

And now I've commissioned one of these in the bronze finish (pewter finish shown) to be a pipe cleaner dispenser.

You need an aquarium with a live one.
Too hard to keep them in captivity, they're escape artists!?
True but they're also smart enough to do your taxes for you.

Truly impressive creatures.
There's a pygmy species from the Gulf of Mexico that supposedly is captivity hardy, but they'll keep you on your toes.

I caught one once. It did NOT want to leave the boat. Its tentacles stuck everywhere like superglue, and you can't grab them as they're squishy and slimy. My kids were scared of the thing and I must confess I found it a bit nasty as well. Eventually I got it off without hurting it too much.
In the water it looked very elegant.

I'm a big fan of nautical themed stuff, especially the octopus and squid.

I have the Kiribi Kabuto with squid:

And Zippo nautical themed:

Octopus eye and brain develop is uncannily like the human's. One simple example of how organized they are, I saw a film that showed an octopus unscrewing the lid of a jar to get to a treat. That's some pretty sophisticated functioning. Aquariums report elaborate escapes by octopus, where they escape the tank and slide down the drain apparently smelling that it empties into the ocean, and off they go. They seem to be somewhat condescending about people, for good reason.

One of the coolest experiences I ever had was holding a live one our guide found while snorkeling in Cancun.

The bastard tried to steal my dive watch. The octopus, not the guide. The guide was really cool.
they were in on it together. Oldest scam in the dive guide world. The guide gets to keep the watch and the octopus gets free dvds (they love them for some reason).
