For future reference, was there any swelling of the tin? What kind of odour was there with this sample?

Was there anything to indicate the seal had been compromised? Or was this a previously opened tin?

No, there was no swelling of the tin or anything that made me suspect it might have a problem. If I recall correctly, it was only about a year or two old when I popped the tin and discovered the mold.

Sorry to see that. I wouldn’t trust anything in the jar.

I’m definitely gonna toss the entire jar.
I’d rather not say what it was as I don’t want to disparage the company. They do amazing work and I love them and we all make mistakes.

Ouch, what year? The tin looks pretty new and the cardboard disks don't look too discolored so it looks like it could be fairly recent.

Edit: OK, I just saw your other post that you popped that tin after maybe a year or 2.

I'm starting to get pretty worried with these posts lately because C&D is very well represented in my cellar.
I knew they had a few issues back in 2016 but it sounds like they continue to have issues up to a release or two ago. I know they stand behind their tobaccos but if they ever go out of business I'd be out thousands and thousands. Its got to make you think.

Wil have to open my one tin soon. It’s about to turn 2 years old. However, I did just open a 4 year old tin of Quiet Nights and it is good to go.
