Part of me is wondering if some of the answers to what are they talking about when their answers seem to contradict themselves, is because technicalities. For example Dunhill/Peterson blends? Are they going to start a new super band? I mean super brand. Will there be no more Seattle Pipe club and now there will only be Pipe Club? Have certain people been cut out of the deal and honestly just don't know it????

Another issue is that Mr. Lankford has passed and he was very integral to the blending so... it was one thing to keep the blends going when they stayed in the same factory with the same leaf coming from the same producers and being put through the same processes on the same equipment. But now that all that infrastructure is gone they're almost starting from scratch.
Is it impossible to take the recipes and recreate them to a barely indistinguishable degree using completely new everything? Not at all. But it's very hard. Now trying all that but without the guy who had all that knowledge and experience of consistency... extremely hard. Making all that profitable when you're probably coming back to a skeptical and fractured customer base and with increasing regulation... quickly becoming impossible.

Alot of this speaks to very deep-seeded issues in our modern society imo. The only thing more sad to me than seeing Indiana Jones end is seeing an 83yo Harrison Ford in front of a greenscreen for 2 hours trying to sell a movie with nothing to offer than blind nostalgia. People need to learn things (just like our own lives) don't last forver. Enjoy what we have and if it ends, use it as motivation to make something newer and better... Fwiw.. lol

I think the most interesting part will be the Red VA's... as far as I know the 2 main players being Sutliff and C&D... I would think there would have to be at least some collaboration without making it an international affair. Even if through a 3rd party

Alls I know is that there will always be a doubt as to whether the new stuff is as good/the same as the old stuff. People will always beware any change especially when it comes to this hobby
I’d posit that the real marketing question is this: will enough smokers that aren’t emotionally attached to the old SPC try and enjoy whatever is presented to the market as the new SPC enough to make it viable business-wise.
I doubt any remakes will bode well with SPC fans, as no substitute will be the same.

Won't matter, you could fill the tins with vinegar and there will still be a market.

If I were in charge I’d restart the brand but make all new blends.
Maybe ask Mr Lankford’s estate for additional recipes and make those.

Or

…make the originals as close as possible but call them different names so pipers don’t break their delicate fingers typing on the internet about how “it’s not the same”

“Chattahoochee River”
“Sow’s Head”
“Galloping Greta”
“Plum Custard”
“Impression Pass”

I dunno man, I’m just riffin’ here.

"Chattahoochee River" would be a good match for Grand Croupier "Jack Pot".

There are undoubtedly FDA concerns about changing manufacturers, changing components, etc. It's Matt's job to be a cheerleader for his products, and he does a very good job at it, but if it was an easy task to shift production, it would be done already. I'm not saying it isn't going to happen. Like you, I know absolutely nothing about this. If it happens (and Matt would be the one to make it happen), it will be interesting to hear the backstory.

Does anyone have any updates no this? I see SPC blends on pipesandcigars.com available, but are these just STG remakes or are they still working through the old stock? I tried some 10 year old SPC last weekend for the first time and really liked it... I'd like more, but I don't want to get an STG knockoff. Do we know any more about C&D possibly being able to bring them back?

As far as I know C&D/SPC will drop them as soon as they are ready.

From what I’ve read, it was originally announced that the Cornell & Diehl iterations were going to drop mid-November; on Facebook, Matt Guss has since stated that has been pushed to December; he has also confirmed that the Sutliff blender(s) that worked on Seattle Pipe Club blends are now part of the C&D team; prices are supposedly a little lower than before.

I’ve been told, by those in the know, that Matt will be dressing up as Hannukah Harry and distrubuting the new blends, by himself on the first night. He’ll be driving town to town in a 1972 Eldorado, stopping at every home with a menorah in the window. He will also have a selection of SPC-branded microwaveable latkes, macaroons and those brightly colred jelly fruit slices that bubbie always had iin the candy dish on top of the TV console.
