Not Looking Likely That Seattle Pipe Club Will Be Back On The Market?

At the entrance to the Chicago Show this year there was a large poster announcing that Seattle Pipe Club blends would be reintroduced despite STG’s closing of Sutliff in Richmond. I sincerely hope I am wrong, but a knowledgeable industry source told me this weekend that C&D will not be making SPC tobacco. That basically leaves Kopp in Germany, so we will see…One vendor did have several large one pound bags of SPC for sale, but indicated this was the last of it from the Sutliff factory. I hope SPC finds a manufacturer, but due to STG‘s actions, that is looking more and more unlikely.

Anyone out there from SPC with an update?

That's correct. C&D was not an option. This is old news. I don't have any other news.

Well...take this for what you will, but I ran into a rep from Laudisi and asked about SPC. He pretty much said they had been acquired and more was coming. Couldn't get any more details from him than that.

That’s too bad. I really liked the blends of theirs I did get to try. Plum Pudding was one of the first English blends I tried.

they're going to drop them off a cliff or waterfall and see what comes out. Now we know what happened in that other thread (about the missing pipe)

Hope they can find a way to come back. When/if they do I'll expect them to be different for better or worse.

I'm glad I got some Hogshead set aside, and Plum Pudding too. I don't smoke a lot of English or Balkan blends anymore but I enjoy Plum Pudding. That one's kind of odd for me...I don't like how when you break it up there's so much dust, I think the flavor is fine, but that room note is incredible. One night I had a bowl and went to bed with the windows open, I woke up sometime later and the smoke was creeping into my bedroom and I thought "Goddamn, that smells amazing" while still half asleep. I think I enjoyed that half asleep room note better than the bowl itself.

It’s interesting how the only known thing is how they absolutely will not be the manufacturer. Kind of strange.

Alls I know is that there will always be a doubt as to whether the new stuff is as good/the same as the old stuff. People will always beware any change especially when it comes to this hobby
