LOL, won't speculate on where you're looking in. ;)

It's been out there since last spring - if you follow the Hunting Pipe line or Nording Pipes or check out the Danish Pipe Shop, they were mentioning it back then, as some did here and since. I learned it reading about "The Badger", which came out about six months earlier than the usual Hunting Pipe release - Danish Pipe Shop had/has a nice writeup in a general way as well.

Seems like the "internet" just "discovered" this in the last couple of days in terms of it becoming a thing on some pipe forums and elsewhere - so I guess now more will know.
Not hawkeye for nothing eh?

I guess my keystones are in for heavier lifting now. No more using them three times and pitching.

My first non-basket-briar was a Nording that I have to this day. Part of the signature series. Will likely pick up one to commemorate their closing.

Godspeed, Mr. Nording!

It's sad to see the creativity and production stop, but I have a lot of respect for anyone who goes out on their own terms and just lets the work stand for itself.
The assumption in one Danish news letter is he is only going to make a few hundred a year. Expect serious prices on those retirement pipes.

Great looking pipes! But I hated the plastic?? type finish.
Wish him well, he deserves it.
What do you mean by 'plastic type finish?'

Here's my Nørding collection, small as it is. None have a finish any different than my other pipes. Two sandblasts and a partial sandblast.

Most of his shapes are too 'out there' even for me, and that's saying something, as most of my pipes are Danish pipes.

Nice pipes!
Had several I liked a lot, then one I wanted to strip & re-stain & finish.
I would have had to sandblast it I think.
Very tough finishing.

He has many naturally finished pipes that are nice, but he also tends to be heavy with the paint on a few lines. His Valhalla pipes are rather thickly coated, as well as a few plastic coated lines.
I'm sure Instymp didn't mean ALL of his pipes. But, he does have a few lines.

I love Danish pipes, but I never really got into his. But, I've met him a few times, and I'm sure he will leave a void in the market for a long time to come. They really were very cheaply priced for what you got. I have a few, just not in my rotation very often.

I heard this a few months back. I have a number of Nording pipes.

Good pipes for what they cost. The target market is lower priced pipes for a lot of of his pipes. A good value. Sorry to see them close.
