Briar painted or coated in such a way that it sort of looks like a meerschaum pipe. (If you take off your glasses, squint, and tilt your head to side). It's Ivory/white fading to dark brown/black near the rim and the end of the shank. Usually on a sandblast or carved pipe.

"Nord-coat" is what it is actually called, so apologies for that, since googling "Nordcoat pipe" will definitely not lead you to tobacco pipes. A search with the hyphen in place will get better results.

No, not coated like that. Never seen that before.
My Nording pipes were similar of the Eric Nording rustic freehand styles.

Thanks for posting the link to the Danish Pipe Shop article. The freehand style of Nording has never been a personal favorite, but I have owned several and they were solid smokers, and I am sad the era is ending. A well-deserved retirement.
