My Amish friend asked me today why old time Christians (only) like me don’t usually drink but we can smoke.

My answer was old men make alcohol to sell to young boys to get a buzz. They’ll wiggle around to deny that but no young boy ever got addicted to grape juice and ruined his life. It’s not the drinking of booze that makes it evil, it’s the selling of it.

On the other hand, yes we get addicted to nicotine, and tobacco not good for the body, but it doesn’t impair judgment and is more in the category of a pleasure than a sin, such as women and dancing and singing and such.

Then my 29 year old son came up and offered me a couple of his ZYN nicotine pouches.

I’d seen an advertisement for them and they come in 12 flavors, but I didn’t know they came in 3mg and 6mg strengths of nicotine.

I sucked on a couple of 3mg ZYN pouches like I was dipping Skoal.

Geezus. In a few minutes I had the hiccups and I thought I’d be sick, but wasn’t. I took them out.

I smoke two pounds of pipe tobacco a month. I am a stone, cold pipe addict,,,,for fifty years.

Do not tell me the sellers of nicotine pouches are anything but drug peddlers.

I don’t object to nicotine pouches being legal or unregulated but the selling of nicotine pouches is evil.

And the answer is not to buy them.

I was shocked, how much nicotine they have and they are tasty, and no spit.

If an old hard core smoker like me used them to quit that’s one thing.

But millions upon millions of people will get hooked on nicotine pouches.

And they won’t have the pleasures, of smoking.

I’ve had the snuff tobacco pouches but these are another critter entirely.

These have no tobacco whatsoever.

When I popped the two 3mg pouches in my mouth I’d probably smoked five or six huge Marxman Big Boys and was workin on another one. My nic levels would put a non smoker in coma.

The pouches slap you with nicotine.

These kids will use a pack of them a day, and won’t want to quit.

They offer a carcinogen free way of enjoying nicotine and no I do not find them to be particular strong, it's just they work to satisfy. They dont create lesions in your gums after use of them. Yes, the nicotine in them comes from tobacco, but its just that-nicotine. The most I use is 3-4 a day. And they help me take breaks from the pipe as well. I think they are a useful tool. If anyone's considering quiting cigs or trying to take a break and get your tolerance down/taste back for your pipe-I highly reccomend them.

The only thing I'm not cool with about them is the minute amount of fake sugar they have in them. I could do without that. But hey, at least when its night time I don't have to worry them being bad for my teeth after I have brushed.

That’s what I keep them around for. As a true nic addict they have their place.

As to the gist of this thread, y’all know that talking in a negative manner about any nicotine delivery method would make those that want to eliminate all nicotine delivery giggle and do the happy dance?
I’d not opine on the topic, but just love to point out hypocrisy (no matter how well intended) when I see it.

I should probably start asking which vape juices I should cellar, but it is a pipe forum….

On a whim I purchased a tin of Zyn from the gas station just to "see" what all the fuss from colleagues in the office was about and it's now been two years and I'm 100% hooked. I go through a can of 15x pouches a day and haven't smoked a pipe or cigar since I started these dreaded pouches. Some might consider this method of nicotine delivery change to be a real blessing, but I've found it to be a bit of a curse.

The use in the office is what got me hooked...got another boring meeting to sit through pop a pouch...got a tight deadline on a project pop a pouch...just finished lunch at my desk pop a pouch...run out of coffee in my thermos pop a pouch...the convenience of these little Zyn pouches has turned EVERY event in my life into a pouch party.

Don't mess with the pouches my friends. Today is the first day where I'm conscientiously trying to cut back.
