Title hugely changed to add specificity and remove jargon.-jpm
As I was responding to a thread started by
@hoosierpipeguy about the philosophy of cellaring tobacco, I found that my fingers did not quite work as expected. There were more typos than normal and I found my perception of all things to be a rather...off. I then felt like the world was spinning faster than I liked and it hit me...I just smoked myself wonky. The vitamin K crept up and gave me a sudden medulla slap (any martial arts or fight practitioners will know all about that). I realize I have not been smoking a pipe for long, but most blends do not have much of an effect on me other than to maybe make me a bit tired before bed. Only once had I experienced some wobble to my legs, but that was after a rather long/large bowl of something.
The culprit tonight (and one that I will be certain to respect a tad more): C&D's Sansepolcro. I am thinking it was the cigar leaf.
I do have a question for the group here: Which is your tummy tingler blend? Your Shrek? Your "ohhhhh...I made a horrible mistake...I should have stopped a ways back"?
After 35 years of smoking 30-40 cigarettes a day I switched to a pipe. Ever since I was a kid I smoked full strength cigarettes and I often inhaled large cigars.
Nicotine was not ever a problem.
The choice of pipe tobacco is really limited here in Australia so when I found that I could order tobacco from the U.S. I was like a kid in a lolly shop.
The choice was so wide that I was a bit lost until I found
www.tobaccoreviews.com and learnt to rely on JimInks reviews to help me choose what to order.
Jim includes a fairly accurate assessment of nicotine in most of his reviews.
Since I switched to a pipe to rid myself of my addiction to cigarettes, I ordered blends with no more than mild nicotine.
I've been smoking them for so long now, that when I had a bowl of a mates blend that had no more than mild to medium nicotine, I really noticed it after just a few puffs [yes I inhale]
It made my head spin but not in a good way.
Although I don't think that nicotine is as bad as we've been led to believe [it's the chemicals that are added to cigarettes that are a big problem] , now that I no longer crave a smoke [more like a hankering
] I'm not willing to risk it by smoking stronger blends.
There's a huge range of mild blends that I really enjoy so I'm content.
