Reason I was asking is I make my own blends for myself and family and handle tobacco fairly often, but have never noticed a buzz -- but then again I always have a pipe going while I blend so I don't know. Just curious if anyone ever got a buzz from rubbing out a whole tin of flake to dry or something

I think it's mostly from handling raw fresh "green" tobacco as that's when you're touching many lbs of it during harvest or when pinching suckers. The leaves are so sticky and a thick layer will build up on your fingers. I've only had a mild effect from it, but I'm only growing for myself.

Right. I think it’s with the growing leaves as well. After they’ve been cured the nicotine is mainly inside the leaf not oozing out like on a live plant.

Maybe we should all try out a tobacco suppository and see if we get a 'whiz' out of that - apparently it was a recommended cure for any type of stomach problems circa 1720. Gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'Put that in your pipe and smoke it'.... rotf
So how would you classify a rope!?

Definitely a hazard for workers who pick tobacco. I think of it here in the tobacco belt when I drive at night in the country and see those harvester rigs out in the tobacco fields all ablaze with spotlights with the crews picking the leaves. There is always an urgency to get it done before inclement weather, and especially hail, arrives. A lot of the crop is covered by hail insurance.
