Wow. Just...wow.
I don't think I've ever seen anything like that, not even in the most contentious of rivalries. Benn just...I don't know. It's like he short-circuited or something. And the circumstances made no sense! Now I can see that kind of play if it's late in the game, you're losing soundly, and you've got some agitator up in your business who's been shadowing you the whole game, and maybe you just lose it and take it out on the guy. Not that I would condone such a thing, but it would at least make sense circumstantially. Nothing doing! It was early in the game, down by only a goal, and Benn was just making his way fairly casually through the neutral zone when he inexplicably decided to make Mark Stone his punching bag...who wasn't even getting in his face all that much! Sure, he was there, forcing the play, but in a way that's not even close to meriting such an overreaction by Benn. Plus, as mentioned in the post above this one, Stone's had back problems, and getting cross-checked several times while being sprawled out on the ice can't be too good for the lumbar region. Needless to say, Vegas deserved to win that game.
Looks like Barkov's back. Everyone have their brooms ready?
