After a two month wait I finally received my Edwards pipe back. They made a new stem and I think I’ll be calling them on Monday asking for my money back. First off it’s not even straight. Then when I looked at the bit I noticed it has two separate holes drilled with no opening in the middle (see pics). I have never seen this done. What’s your thoughts on this repair? A stem replacement can be so satisfying, giving a pipe a new life and sometimes giving a major boost to appearance.

I love my several Edwards pipes, Benton series stamped and sold as Iwan Ries house pipes. Fortunately, all have retained their original stems in good shape.

I'd sure go for a refund. That's a repair requiring a repair.

Looks like it was a premolded twin-bore they “tried” to cut a slot in. Unfortunately this is mostly par for the course for the current crop of pipe repairmen.

SOMEBODY has to give their idiot nephew a job.

You have been gifted with a very rare stem design entitled the Richard The Third, based on the ill fated hunchbacked King of England. Like Richard's spine, not only is the stem crooked, but the slot is as twisted as a politician's promise.

You should be thrilled, trilled say I, to be the recipient of this amazing largesse.

I would call it "Rare" or even One of a Kind and sell it on fleabay for 3x the price.

I've never heard of Edwards until this thread. Is the company still around? And are they the ones who did this repair?
