Which is a reasonable route to take to get in on the market. I prefer glass pieces for those kinds of weeds tho. I wouldn’t write off the whole company though because they wanted to make stuff for the cannabis market. People and companies do change their minds, frequently.
Me either, but to each their own. I have no problem with people having a problem with it 😂

I can’t wait to hear someone getting pulled over by the police next smoking their cob, cause the law thinks you’re smoking cannabis in it.

Seriously this is a bad move....

The lines between tobacco and cannabis pipes are getting blurred even further, and the Radiator pipes by H. Wiebe, doesn’t help either.

If people want to smoke cannabis that’s fine, and their businesses. I just don’t believe the Fine Traditional History of Pipes should be included is all, keep them separate!

P.S. I’m tempted to throw my cob in the trash.
I was pulled over for a tail light out once. The cop asked if I smoked tobacco. I asked if he was asking because of my corn cob pipe . He smiled and said yes. I handed him the pipe and he literally put his nose inside the chamber. 4 big inhales. Handing the pipe back he said "thank you".

Either he thought it was weed, or he really really likes the smell of pipe tobacco. puffy

FWIW, they were selling those MM mini-cobs in gas stations 30 years ago, I’m quite sure many of those were being used for “non-tobacco” items. I would be surprised if the company wasn’t at least somewhat aware of that. They weren’t directly marketed as “weed” pipes because it wasn’t legal anywhere back then.

lol how many people are smoking their pipes while driving on any given day? Not that many and any cop who had an issue with it would have pulled that person over and we probably would have heard of that, and many other, stories. Your fears are unfounded but if you need to pitch your pipes, well that’s your choice. You might want to consider smoking a joint before you do so and think it over lol

If a company wants to get involved in the cannabis industry, this is not the problem.

It’s taking the rich culture of the tobacco pipe history, and now trying to mix it, as if they should be together, they shouldn’t.

MM, people might only think is strictly Corncobs, and sits by itself in it’s own corner, it doesn’t. The 150 year history it sits in, is the tobacco world, that gets associated with all of it, like the names Castello, Dunhill, Peterson, Savinelli, etc...

If MM wanted to branch out great, make a sub division named under something else, and keep the Pipe Tobacco World out of it.

What next, Castello, Dunhill, Savinelli, Peterson, etc., are all going to start selling cannabis pipes too?

Hey @gawithhoggarth are you also going to start selling CBD Hemp to smoke? LOL 😝

You know there is also a lot of legal smokeable hemp sold through out the world too, should MM start selling that as well? I don’t think so...

If people want to be involved in cannabis great, have at it, but please don’t mix the world of cannabis with the world of tobacco/pipes as if they share any commonality, they don’t.

I hope you see the point, and I truly believe this just undermines, and cheapens as well, the rich culture of the tobacco pipe world.

OH, and if we all think none of this will possibly never have a negative effect on the Pipe Tobacco World, guess again. I seriously see this, as inviting government trouble at all the angles you can play into this with pipe tobacco smokers, think hard about that, and only time will tell.

P.S. Getting pulled over, I was joking, but who knows, it might happen one day, or walking down the road, etc...

All I’ll say before I move off this topic is that tobacco and cannabis have been intertwined for centuries.

Let’s never forget, what we already know to be true, the government loves to regulate our life, and only time will truly tell, if this becomes more intertwined, then who’s to say now, what impact this might negatively effect against the tobacco industry in the future?

I’m not against the cannabis industry, I’m against intertwining them, as you mentioned.

You have to realize, the intertwine you are referring to, was not heavily involved, or involved at all, with many of the big names and companies through out the pipe tobacco world.

The history of tobacco pipes, with a huge part of it, has never had anything at all to do with cannabis through out their entire history.

And, of course, we still have many of these businesses around to this day, we can reach out to them and ask.

Oh, it wasn't that they did, it was due to their disclaimer saying their products weren't meant for such use. Upon releasing their 420 pipes, that part of their disclaimer was deleted. I wrote them off for lack of integrity, plus burying a tobacco pipe from a head shop just feels weird.

I have to admit cobs do give you a quality smoke, but I still prefer briar. Tobacco is a problem in cobs if they have trouble staying lit.

I just want to say one last thing and I’m done, sorry again for off topic.

We should be respecting that this forum is a world wide community, where we have fellow pipe brethren still living in parts of the world, where cannabis consumption is a serious criminal offense with serious consequences.

Everyone on this forum is not living in liberal cannabis countries, also another reason why tobacco companies shouldn’t be representing this.

Even in the USA depending on where you live and your job, it can also have serious repercussions.

This clearly shows MM’s lack of this respect, as if cannabis is really no big deal.

I haven't been pulled over in a long time (for any reason) so I'm not worried about that but I can tell you that whenever someone under a certain age sees me smoking my pipe the first question they ask is 'Is that weed/pot?' ...

under a certain age people are unaware that pipes were used for anything else ... truly sad state of the world... soon we will see pictures of a pipe in the 'Does anyone know what this was used for ?' blogs.

There was a member here several years ago that had a briar pipe broken by a cop because he thought it had been used for marijuana.

Exactly this.
It happened more than once that people refer to cannabis when I talk about pipe smoking.
Quite recently I wrote a text on pipes on another place and of course a pothead responded.
I don't like it when pipe smoking gets associated with that crap.

A few years ago at a fall festival I had a young woman ask me why I'd use such a nice pipe for tobacco.

In that case, it doesn’t sound like they necessarily had a change of heart, they just wanted to cover their asses before.
