SInce we are no longer at Harrah's Casino for the show the room rates are unfortunatly no longer viable.

Not too impressed by Harrah's. "Oh, that deal we made, we were uh wrong about the legal aspects, so we want to just drop it and you go fix our mess on your dime."

We're waiting on a call back from Hilton - its not in their system yet "apparently"

If anyone has successfully booked the Hilton Garden Inn at the discounted rate, please PM me. Apparently I'm doing it wrong...

Nope- rate is not active yet. We booked a room at the $339 for King Room and had them note on the reservation that we needed the rate for the New Orleans Pipe Show...I'll be calling Monday to rebook under the discount rate...An important thing is that if you do it this way, any changes have to happen 3 days in advance, so you would need to call back in by Tuesday to take advantage of the rate....
And Be AWARE!!! When we called Harrahs, they said all the group reservations had been cancelled, so it seems like if you show up willing to pay the extra at Harrah's, you may not have a reservation...They didn't notify us- we found out when we called to cancel...

My sympathy to the organizers, and boo on the City of New Orleans and Harrah's. Harrumph.

We got stationed down here in 1989 and I retired in New Orleans in 1993. While my wife worked in New Orleans until she retired two years ago, the only time I went into the city was to pick her up from work or to visit the WWII Museum. There is a reason for that and it's called the crappy way the city crooks - I mean political dictators - run the place.

Glad you survived Katrina. Good luck with the local politics. I saw enough during that time to distrust most city administrations.
