Only pipe smoking 68 years and hoping to get the hang of it before I run out of room to keep my pipes. I'm neither a collector or trader, just a smoker. Only smoke when I'm not eating or sleeping and trying to cut back on both which I find most annoying. I will admit to being particular about what I smoke and prefer anything that stays lit. Although I have 89 pipes and will stop at 100 - I've already been called an amateur by a few collectors who know I'm not one of them. I guess I'm just a "gatherer!"

I bet you’ve seen a lot of change in WNC in over 68 years.
I'm 85 from Brooklyn NY to USMC in NC 1953. Swore I'd never come back to NC. Got to Asheville in 1986
and now 50 miles West. But of course, you're right.
"Time waits for no man (er, person)" about the only thing you can count is some days are good days and some days are not so good days.

First off, thanks for your service. I used to love that part of the state, but my god has it changed in the last 10-15 years.
I'm a reality-based free-thinker and a big supporter of those with an open mind. Unfortunately, it seems that along with the population growth, came an amazing amount of folks "'round these parts" who follow a different drummer. I'm surrounded by flat-earthers, the moon is only 35 miles up inside of a glass(?) enclosure with the earth resting on the backs of four turtles or elephants... and that's why I smoke so much. `
