Hi, after reading for a while I decided to join I am in my early 70's and have fond memories of my dad smoking revelation tobacco in the 1950's. The revleation tobacco by philip Morris was found in those iconic tins. . They all ended up being used in his workshop to hold screws, nails, and assorted small parts.
The other day I was looking in an old desk the family had and I found a bag of his old pipes. Back in the 1950's I loved the aroma of the revelation tobacco he smoked, and finding these pipes brought back fond memories. My sisters share in this great memory of the smell of the revelation tobacco and those iconic tins. I am considering taking up smoking, ( I don't smoke now) and I wonder if there is a modern equivalent for that old reveleation tobacco. Anyway I am located in western MA, and hope to learn alot about pipes, tobacoo and cleaning and restoring the pipes that I found. Gonzo

I really enjoyed your introduction. The story of your father is very endearing.
I’m not familiar with the revelation tobacco blend. But I am sure there’s some members here on the forum who will be able to provide information.

Welcome from Idaho!

RobNYC got the Revelation Match blends on the spot. I never smoked the original, but find the match blends good. Welcome aboard from central North Carolina. You may already know that Revelation is famous for being said to be Albert Einstein's favorite blend, or one of them. Those are some great memories of your dad and the scent of his tobacco. My dad was a Granger man from the age of 15 to 65. He smoked from just after breakfast to bedtime with time out for lunch and supper. He quit the pipe cold turkey at 65 for a second career on a no-smoking campus, and died at 89 licensed to drive without glasses. He smoked his Granger through WWII as a minesweeper skipper in the Philippines.

Welcome! There are plenty of threads here about cleaning those old pipes if you intend to smoke them, they will be a bit musty from the decades of sitting unused. Pick up a some pipe cleaners with your first tobacco purchase!
