Hello and welcome from Seattle, Washington USA.Oshawa Canada
I figured you were right and that it was Native, but had to look it up. Apparently it means "the crossing place" in Ojibwa. Though I'm not sure what crosses here. We are on Lake Ontario but there are no big rivers or anything here that cross each other.Hello and welcome from Seattle, Washington USA.
I am guessing “Oshawa“ is neither French nor English but perhaps First Nations; any idea of the meaning or origin?
Times and places change, it could have been where 2 foot paths crossed....."the crossing place" in Ojibwa. Though I'm not sure what crosses here. We are on Lake Ontario but there are no big rivers or anything here that cross each other.
