I like how it’s 2,199.99. Like they’re courting that treasured consumer who can afford 2,100 but not 2,200, and needs to psychologically justify the jump.

Well, you're right- it's all about psychology, though a bit of a stretch at the level. I think it started with the first item that was priced at 99 cents instead of a buck.

EDIT: well, this would've been funny if the exchange rate was the same as when I was there many years ago. Like when dinner for 4 cost 50,000,000.
