Roger,
I got this in an email from a very old friend today.

He knows I have been "in the market" for over a year.
$20.00

Sometimes we just need to be reminded!

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by: holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?"

Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.

He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill.

He then asked, "Who still wants it?"

Still the hands were up in the air.

Well, he replied, "What if I do this?"

And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.

He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty.

"Now, who still wants it?"

Still the hands went into the air.

My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson.

No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.

It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.

We feel as though we are worthless.

But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.

Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.

The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE.

You are special - Don't EVER forget it"

If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Count your blessings, not your problems.
"And remember: amateurs built the ark .. professionals built the Titanic.

I was off the site for a few days and missed this one until Lawrence's latest post.
Hang in there buck, things will change for the better!
All the best,
William

Thanks Lawrence, very inspirational. And thank you William and all the others. This morning I waited my turn at the unemployment office. Talk about a rude awakening. However, I am thankful it is available for those of us in need.

Hang in there Buck! The company my wife worked for 22 years shut the doors 3 months ago, she hasn't looked back, went back to school getting straight A's. We just tightened up our budget and doing ok. You will get through it!

That's awful ; Buck. Be sure to live in the soluition; and think out side the box. I realise that thinking outside the box is a bit cliche thanks to focus groups that wernt really interested in answers. Consider marketing unique playhouses at the farmers market. Easy to build, fun to design. As families cinch their belts across the nation, they too, are open to new and old ideas.
....of course you'll be in the prayers.

A fellow once told me "If you never build the box , you don't have to think outside it" The more I thought about the more logical is seemed .

The number of people I know who are without work right now is truly staggering. I can tell you that you are not alone, that I will join the prayer chain and that every significantly positive change in my life has been preceded (and set in motion) by what was perceived at the time as an absolute disaster. Keep the faith, Brother Buck. Better days are coming if you just keep doing the next right thing.

Thanks Seakayak, I'm sending out resumes online and was handing them out yesterday in person. My wife told me to slow down or I will burn myself out. I think she is probably right. Today, I'm at home about to bake a cake and just finished off some chicken livers that I cooked a few minutes ago. I've already learned to cut back on a few things, including my pipe smoking. I am confident, however, that my 24 years of drafting/design experience will pay off soon. I don't think I could sit at home much more. It's just not for me. Thanks again everyone for the thoughts and prayers.

I am sure you will find something in short order. In the meantime, try to relax znd stay calm with whatever your situation is.

My dad got laid off back in late 08, and he never really looked back, only forward. Things happen, and as my grandma said, "Everything happens for a reason, you'll learn the reason eventually."
You'll be in my thoughts, and good luck on that job hunt!
