Naming your Pipes?

I’m newish to pipe smoking and have recently bought my second pipe. My wife names inanimate objects like cars and plants all the time. Is it weird to name a pipe or should I let my wife go crazy?

Whatever makes you happy. I personally don’t do it for pipes but I did name my computer Miyuki.

Only you can answer the question, but for me, if I named my pipes I’d have a polygamist thing going on.

When the inspiration strikes...I just named all four of my pipes: Aloysius, Phyllis, Hørst, and Methuselah. Great idea, sir!

Now, to think of a name for my straitjacket... ?

Some of my pipes have earned names like Dunny, Stan, Ben, Ginger, Thomas, Pete, Santa, etc.

I let my wife name my pipes. Today I plan on smoking, Stinky, Discusting, Smelly, and Foul.

We named our kids, our dogs and my when my girls at the age of five got kittens I let them name their cats for $100 each. Otherwise, things that are important in life already have names - like "Heinz" or "Weber"!

I would give my pipes super pompous names if it was me, like Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, The Duke of Marlborough and such. No fun in Stan or Cindy.

I have one pipe I sometimes refer to as Ugly Betty. IMHO the novelty of naming your pipe wears off once you accumulate a substantial number.

There is only one pipe of mine that has a name. It’s a Rossi blasted Canadian that as soon as I took it out of the box, she calmly looked over and said…….that one looks just like a turd?
