This too is a hero of mine. He was one of the major influences in my decision to go to Uni at 38 to do a degree in Archaeology after I left the British Army. He did SO much to promote Archaeology in the UK through the mass media of TV and radio. He was a military man through and through having served in both World Wars. It is said he applied Military prescision to all of his excavations. His most famous excavation being the largest Iron Age hillfort in Europe, Maiden castle in Dorset.
