I've had one too many glasses of wine, I was looking forward to SMUT. I'll let an old guy take care of your wet pipe needs.

As far as the outside of the bowl, Im not real sure Id worry about that. I would think the only issues would be: 1) The wood in the shank expanding so much that the stem doesnt want to fit. I would try to take the pipe apart and put it back together. If you dont have a problem, you should be in good shape. Now 2.) As far as the inside of the bowl, you dont know what impurities from the water may have wound up in there. I would think a good alcohol and salt/cotton ball treatment would pull any of those impurities out of the wood. Beyond that, I wouldnt think there would be anything else you could do.

Just dry it with pipe cleaners, and paper towels in the bowl and tenon, wipe the outside with soft cloths, then let it air dry.... That should do the trick. You shouldn't have any real problems, unless it stayed in the water for more than just a short time. Once you dry the tenon I would replace the stem and let it dry... Just in case the wood swells. IMHO... don't take that as gospel, that's just what I would do.
I'm sure others will have some ideas on this rather unique problem.
