Yah and the space ships and battles in the original Star Wars were great….in 1977
One of my good friends (yeah I know I actually have one or two of those) watched Star Wars a few years ago and said he realized he wouldn't have loved it if he wasn't a little kid when he watched it.
Also worked with a guy who told me seeing star wars in 1977 was amazing and mind blowing. You know like it was when I was five.

Of course Kirk's toupee in Star Trek the Movie was never believable or good in anyway .. so there is an exception to every rule. lol

what you find it hard to believe that society would advance in all those ways and then go back to pre 1960's toupee tech? Who knows maybe it was the fashionable thing. Like in Star Fleet people would laugh at how believable someones toupee was. "Oh my God Darla can you believe that Klingon, that toupee looks real"... "What a toolbag, probably can't afford s nice fake hair piece!"

I feel the old Star Wars (episodes 4-6) still hold up better than episodes 1-3 and FAR better than 7-whatever number is now.

Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, especially if you can get hold of the 'unremastered' ones, remain outstanding movies. Return of the Jedi is carried by the momentum of the first two, but it is where the rot starts. All the others were just travesties of various types.

I never watched The X Files when it aired on television.
Things to go places to do. You know the routine.
No that I'm partially retired I may check out an episode or two just for old times sake.

When it’s good, it’s very good. When it misses, it’s about equal to typical TV. The occasional comedic episodes are some of my all time favorite TV.

Depending on whether you prefer the “monster of the week” or the “mythology” episodes you may need to give it more of a chance to get going and grab you.

Good luck and enjoy!

X Files was on Friday evenings when it started and at that time in our lives with our infant daughter I enjoyed being home on Friday evenings and we didn’t really have the TV on much on Fridays. I had a friend that was into it and would talk about it, so I watched an episode here or there the first couple of seasons but never got into it enough that it was a must watch.

Watched the show every week through its run. The shows I liked the most were not alien-related and did love their satirical ones.

The episode “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space” is genius. I won’t give any spoilers. Really funny, especially once you get to know Mulder and Scully.

Peter Boyle guesting in “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose” is another great episode.

nothing wrong with CGI except most of it is cheap and not so good. Kind of like practical effects, both can be quite laughable if not done right and feel seamless when done well.
I've seen independent artists fix modern CGI done by the top houses. They've really fallen from grace over the past few years.
