I'm not saying someone MUST sit in front of the screen and watch 16+ videos in one sitting. A leaner can skip certain ones and/or go directly to the one covering the issue presently facing him.
I linked to youtube in answer to the 'how many seconds' question because in general it's simpler to watch someone do something than forming a mental picture from verbal explanations. There's more to lighting a pipe than just the time one holds the flame over the bowl for. Granted, some are not visual learners, but again I emphasise that it's much easier to learn the ropes through watching someone go through the proper motions than through lenghty text discourse.
Not all of us had the benefit of growing up with a pipe smoker relative or neighbour from whom we could learn by the best learning method there is: watching and imitating.
