I smoke 5 to 6 bowls per day. I cannot imagine spending more than 5 seconds to decide upon the pipe and tobacco I am going to smoke. I shudder to think about your procrastination over important decisions in life. You probably shit your pants don't you?
I have only two toilet bowls and only one blend to put in them, so that's a much easier decision.

I have many pipes and open blends, so I often pick out a few pipes and put them in the batter's box the night before. Then I try to keep a brisk pace deciding on a blend, usually bouncing between two or three before grabbing one, without any waffling or letting much time pass. I rarely stall in remorse, just keep moving. Sometimes I pack a pipe the night before. The result is, I rarely start completely cold trying to decide between 94 pipes and 30 blends.

I smoke out of the same pipe all day long for the most part. I have a couple of choice of tobacco beside me and rarely pay attention to which is which.. That being said I do have a pipe in the truck for travel.
I have used coin flips to make a smoking choice. Sometimes I'll have a couple of cigars in my dry box, and a few pipe tobaccos to consider. I'll pace like I am deciding whether to use the nuclear football or not, and then settle things with a little March Madness style tournament bracket and coin flips. It's kind of a nice problem when everything sounds good.

I have each shelf space where I store my opened blends numbered and I ask "Alexa to pick a number between 1 and 33 (which is the quantity of opened blends)". Whatever number she comes up with is what I smoke that day.

Once I have the blend, the pipe choosing is easier.
For those of you dying to know, today the number was 26,

Wessex Burley Slice!

That will require a half-bent Dunhill Root Briar Zulu. puffy

See? Simple!

Now I need to pee....

Is that not always the decision? Why go further when in need? :poop:

Where I dump can be important. Atmosphere, surroundings, lid configuration, lighting ... there are numerous considerations to be considered. If it is the guest bathroom, who knows who pissed on the lid and who knows what else? This requires much more thought than which pipe and blend to smoke. This is in your own home. The metrics that warrant consideration when you're out and about are far greater. Of course, urgency is a high priority consideration which brings proximity into play.

Ah I do miss smoking in the pub. Really did wonders to cover the smell of feet and arse.
Choosing a pub these days is essentially finding one with a decent heated outdoor area that allows smoking. Can’t stand being banished to a shelter.

I only smoke a couple of bowls a day, and have only a few blends, so I spend the rest of the time deciding what to have.
the first thing I noticed about smoking bans in bars was how horrible most bars smell. The second thing is how they now come with packs of drunks smoking cigs outside where they're more annoying.

Some of them a truly dreadful. I'm a traditional Scottish fiddle player and we often meet up to play tunes together in pubs (or did, and most certainly will do). But the interruption to the music when everyone has to traipse outside to smoke gets frustrating.

Also, I agree that packs of drunks anywhere are annoying but even more so between you and the door to the beer.

You'd hate bars in America. The music is what attracts people to certain bars, but then when the music starts, everyone starts screaming at each other to hear each other over the stupid music. I've never understood that. If you asked them if they wanted to hear the band, they'd say "of course." But, watch them, no one ever even pays any attention to the bands.
And, if there just happen to be one person in there that wanted to hear the band, they wouldn't be able to over everyone screaming. I hate bars.

That does sound pretty grim. Only been to the states a few times and not to many places like that. Must’ve been lucky I suppose.

Generally the places that sessions happen are small so it’s unamplified and the pub is mostly populated by the musicians. The really good ones the whole place goes quiet when someone sings, although that happens less and less.

Sounds great! Unfortunately, I’ve never been somewhere like that. I have a lot of friends who play, and I’d love to actually hear them.
