I also have mason jars (the one I bought) I just bought some of these too
Sounds like many think these will work, but you were talking about building a cellar which to me is a longer term proposition so I’d think you’d just want the one kind of jar. I’d this is more of a place to keep ready tobacco, even for a few months, I guess no worries?

As mentioned before from time to time, I have a partial small jar of 1Q i've had for years and smoke rarely. It is like the Twinkie snack nailed to the barn wall, eternal and indestructible. It remains moist and redolent with its flavoring. It does not change. Perhaps it should be in the crypt of one of the Pyramids.

I think
Store in cool, dark place with steady temperatures & this will be less likely to happen

Mac
i think this would only happen in the case of a fast temperature swing, where the inside wouldn't have time to gradually reach the same temperature. My basement is dry, but temps can vary from 16 degrees in the winter, to 25 degrees on the stinking hot summer days. I've never had Condensation though, which I believe is due to the very gradual change in temps, where the inside can climatize at the the same rate.

This is all just my theory, however

I store my “now smoking” blends in those jars. (I open a tin; tin goes in a jar, which is what I smoke from.) I’ve had blends I’ve forgotten about in these latch jars that have lasted four years without any issues.
Same here i use those for things I'm digging in every few days so no big deal, for things I'm not really touching I use mason jars.

Isn't that where they found the oldest cellared tobac? In King Tut's tomb? :col:
