When you hold and smoke your first Rhodesian or Bulldog, you appreciate the feel and how well they smoke. That's a beautiful example of the shape. I'm guessing it won't be your last.
I bought a Peterson 150 for my 3rd ever briar pipe and despite its weight and thick diamond stem I reach for it all the time because it feels so good and balanced and smokes so well. To have a ring grain that tight, it must have been a nearly flawless block. Are the Ashtons all hand made?
There are a few 150’s that look lovely as well, particularly sandblasted and/or spigot variations. I’m sure I’ll eventually try one out.I bought a Peterson 150 for my 3rd ever briar pipe and despite its weight and thick diamond stem I reach for it all the time because it feels so good and balanced and smokes so well. @americaman there is no such thing in this thread, show us what you’ve got! I love seeing other Ashton’s.
Holy crap, that is a deep and raunchy blast ? so much texture in hand with that thing.
Now that I think about it, this might be the first one I’ve seen, too. Seen lots of straight bulldogs, but not these. Didn’t realize they were a less favored shape of Ashton... thank you for pointing that out!I don't remember ever seeing an Ashton Rhodesian before. It is awesome. I am a fan of the shape, but the blast and color are amazing. Hold on to it because it could be years before you another one that pretty. Congrats on a great pipe and I hope it is a trmendous smoker for you.
