Beautiful! I find Ashton to be very hit and miss when it comes to my shape preferences but their takes on Bulldogs (and Rhodesians) are stellar! And it reminds me of a Pete 999 as well, Earl, which is another stellar execution of the shape. The blast would be uncommon on a Pete but that appears to be changing with their new in-house blasting producing ore top-of-the-line results.

When you hold and smoke your first Rhodesian or Bulldog, you appreciate the feel and how well they smoke. That's a beautiful example of the shape. I'm guessing it won't be your last.
I bought a Peterson 150 for my 3rd ever briar pipe and despite its weight and thick diamond stem I reach for it all the time because it feels so good and balanced and smokes so well. Everything tastes good in it

There are a few 150’s that look lovely as well, particularly sandblasted and/or spigot variations. I’m sure I’ll eventually try one out.

I don't remember ever seeing an Ashton Rhodesian before. It is awesome. I am a fan of the shape, but the blast and color are amazing. Hold on to it because it could be years before you another one that pretty. Congrats on a great pipe and I hope it is a trmendous smoker for you.
Now that I think about it, this might be the first one I’ve seen, too. Seen lots of straight bulldogs, but not these. Didn’t realize they were a less favored shape of Ashton... thank you for pointing that out!

That is gorgeous. Bent Rhodesians and Bulldogs were my favorite pipes for years, probably since my first one in the mid 1980s. I still have several, but lately I've been gravitating toward Pokers, which seem both elegant and, thanks to their flat bottoms, practical. Tastes do indeed change!
