For my personal taste, it is one of MM's best. And if you want a long and relaxing smoke. Use the General. With a good collection, it will be perfect for your daily rotation. Remember to let them dry well before smoking them again. I am happy for you my friend..........
I'm surprise of the taste from a cob pipe. I'm not sure whether my pipe is still new or what, somehow it taste quite strong, totally different from smoking briar wood.
Aye aye sir! Always remember, rotate pipe and let them fully dry ?

Is there any do's and don't's on cob pipes?
The new cob flavor is normal. When you have an ash cake it will be better. When you have an ash cake it will have a better flavor and aroma. I used to clean them every smoke, but now I clean some pipes every six months, depending on the thickness of the cake. Before the cake is difficult to clean because of its thickness. And I use 96º alcohol, it melts the cake and leaves the pipe unpolluted. I never clean it with water, unlike briar pipes. But all this is my personal experience of three years smoking corn pipes. Many experienced forum members will give you excellent recommendations.....

I have around 45 cobs with about a dozen with Forever Stems (no photos, sorry). I've never let any cake build up in the cobs. There are those who do the cake thing and that's okay. Do what works for you. Since you bought 2 cobs, why not try one with cake and one without cake and then see what you like best. I use gun bore brushes (pictured below) to clean out the bowl after each smoke.
