Wow!! Thank you Mr. Reeves. Unfortunately mold is a possibility with any natural grown crop, but it is great to hear that you are on top of things and minimize the potential for any problems. I love data, and I love good customer service! I will admit that I am a C&D Stan, but this type of response shows the quality of the product and company that is Cornell & Diehl. Just hit "Add to Cart" on your products with the 4th of July sale going on now. Thanks!First, I wanted to thank Shawn for reaching out to us to let us know about the issue he was having with Temple Bar, so that we could get him a replacement. This tin was produced on 11/18/21 and purchased in Dec. of this year. The tin had been opened and transferred to a jar and Shawn was smoking from it occasionally. After being opened for some time, this small bit of mold developed. We are working with the retailer to get both them and Shawn a replacement for the tin. We stand by our products and we stand by our customers. That is the way we do things, even on an older tin, and even when the tin has been opened and stored. I am proud that we do things that way and I think it speaks to the qualtiy and integrity of our products. Mold is rare, but when it happens we take care of it. That is our track record.
I know that we have had some issues, most notably back in 2016, that were very public on this forum and I have addressed these just as publicly here and elsewhere to make sure that customers knew what was going on and what steps we were taking to address it. But I also think that the impression some have regarding the prevalence of mold in our products is just plain wrong and I want to chime in here with some actual data regarding this.
Including this very instance of mold in this tin of Temple Bar, our molded product count is very low. 4 out of every 10,000 units produced. That is the rate of mold occurence for a C&D product from today to 1/1/13, when C&D became part of Laudisi. That includes the issues that we had in 2016 which was the height of our instances of mold and for that year, instances of mold still accounted for less than 1% of our total output. I am proud of that track record. If you look at our production from 2019 to today, compared to our reported instances of mold from that production timeline, our rate of mold is less than 1 in 10,000 units. 77 units (tins or bulk) with mold out of more than 1.5 million units produced. This is not a poor track record, and these are actual tracked data, not based on hearsay, impressions or memory. And these numbers include tins or jarred product that have been in people's cellars for years. Our track record stands pretty good I'd say.
