A corner of my Temple Bar has this forming on a corner. Last time I sliced it off and smoked it anyway - don't know if I took years off my life or not. But what is it? Is it mold? I can rub some of it off with my finger. No strange "rotten" smell or anything like that. Just keeping it in a small mason jar in a dark file cabinet. If it is mold - what can I do? I had read somewhere someone suggesting putting it in the freezer. I don't want to keep slicing off to have it come back. And I can't really send it back to C&D from Canada - would be way too complicated. 20230605_195757.jpg20230605_195802.jpg

Yup, mold.

How recently did you buy it?

If not long ago, maybe the photo and proof of when it was purchased (e-receipts are forever, right?) will get a replacement sent your way.

C&D does not have a good track record when it comes to this problem.

Yup, mold.

Unfortunately, not an option - bought it a few months ago from 4Noggins. However, them sending me a replacement will not be free - there's a good chance I'll be hit with duty trying to replace it. I want to know if there is something I can do about the mold. I'll just make a note not to buy it again.

I might write to them to let them know though and maybe 4Noggins as well.

That’s definitely disappointing. Hopefully they send you a replacement and make it right. Do you still have the tin? I’m curious what the packaging date is?

The very few tins that went moldy for me went into the patio fire place. Those were tins or bulk that I jarred. I have never popped a tin with mold already growing in it.

And sorry - it's not C&D - it's G.L. Pease - although I understand that C&D produces the tobacco.

Yup. Greg comes up with the "recipe", chooses the leaf, designs the tin label, chooses the name, etc., but has nothing to do with the day-to-day production of it. (He's in California, C&D is in North Carolina)

What you have there is the poster child for moldy tobacco.

I had some Temple Bar that was moldy a couple of years ago. Several other tins bought at the same time weren’t.
