Nope, I stand corrected. The previous release was "Mississippi River Special Reserve" which was 4 oz plug, but this release is "Mississippi River Special Reserve Flake" served in a 2 oz tin.I may stand corrected. And to Cosmic. Oh, the shame.
I agree. There's a softness to the smoke that I've always attributed to this cutI find these sort of broken flakes have the best burn characteristics of any type of cut. I haven't sampled this particular blend but C&D does it perfectly.
Better you than me. LOLNope, I stand corrected. The previous release was "Mississippi River Special Reserve" which was 4 oz plug, but this release is "Mississippi River Special Reserve Flake" served in a 2 oz tin.
If you are going to make that comparison, pop a tin of recently released MRSR Cake.Just got mine in the mail today. Jarred 2 tins and one came broken up and the other all in Flake "form". I pulled out the jar of the MRSR cake and they definitely smell different. This flake smells like the Latakia is kicked up a notch.

Going to smoke both tonight. Just noticed a bit more Latakia on the tin note of this new flakeIf you are going to make that comparison, pop a tin of recently released MRSR Cake.
The red Virginia is still the predominant player. To me the Latakia is barely noticeableGoing to smoke both tonight. Just noticed a bit more Latakia on the tin note of this new flake
Thats a good thing. I got a little burned out on Latakia recently. I love the tanginess of Mississippi River (the regular stuff) You ever get a tin where the Virginia is more potent? I went to my friends lounge last month and bought a tin of it and damn, tangy as all hell and gave me a case of the bite! It was odd because I smoke it regularly. The red Virginia is still the predominant player. To me the Latakia is barely noticeable
