I think Elvis was enabled by his male groupie yes-men who catered to his fantasies and neediness
I agree mso489, everyone around Elvis was an enabler. And he was an easy target. Too bad.
I like how WZ put it, "Eating fried chicken with his regicidal friends".

Liz Jones realizes a dream, to talk to DJ "Argo" on the XM Elvis channel which broadcasts from Graceland.

We made it to the "Rock & Soul Museum" before leaving town. And, I snagged a "Speedway" jacket at Lanskys, an early Christmas present from Liz. That will look cool in the MGB.
We made it to Nashville last night, and got to hang out in some Broadway honky-tonks till we crashed...

We're doing the Country Music Hall of Fame today, more honky-tonks tonight.

Our last day on vacation was a dozy in Nashville.

We spend a large part of the day at the Country Music Hall of Fame. My wife noticed one of the attendants at Guest Services name badge said "Hagerstown", which is our small little town in Western Maryland. Sure enough, "Rose Lee" was from Hagerstown. I asked what brought her to Nashville and she said she was a session musician for 50 years. Bingo, I remembered a local newspaper story about Rose, when she turned 90 (she is now 92!). We chatted with her for a while and she tolds to watch in some of the videos, she was playing fiddle and her husband the double neck guitar. Sure, enough, in this Wanda Jackson (Queen of Rockabilly!) she and her husband are in the band.

We were too bushed to stay in the downtown area, but happened on a little honky tonk near our hotel (the Nashville Palace). They had a great Western Swing band playing. Jack Pearson, the guitar player for the Allman Brothers even stopped by and played a few song.

What a day and trip. Tomorrow, the 10 hour drive back to the real world.
