As just posted on another thread, if the meer is not preheated before dipping in beeswax, it can break. If you are talking about heating the wax more than usual, you increase your chances of this happening.

There are a bunch of colored 'cutty' pipes on my 'All Things Cutty' blog along with some thoughts on how they colored these pipes back in the 1880s and how you can repeat the experience today.

My suggestion would be, "Want a white pipe? Get on of those old Kaywoodies painted white." I simply don't understand wanting a Meerschaum you can't smoke because you don't want it to color.
I may be too cynical but, I have the feeling we are being "shined on." Hopefully, that's not too colloquial.

Agreed, if you want a white pipe and want to keep it white, just use a clay pipe, or even one of those leather covered ones like in that other thread.

Or better still buy a meerschaum and just never smoke it - problem solved!
