At this point, I believe there have been more end of the world threads about Sutliff closing than when McC shut the doors.
I just want to say
1. I’m embarrassed
2. Shame on all of you
3. The number of knee jerk Nancie’s has grown exponentially since McC said goodnight
4. There’s probably 5 guys here who have been omniscient since ‘08, have every change come and go, and have 700 pounds of (whatever the flavor du jour) in fancy Mylar bags.

Maybe can we have something other than fifteen fucking threads that get the same replies?
Ahahaha although I don’t disagree with your sentiment maybe you should just get on back to your little domain where your words carry a quasi depth and weight and the minions scurry in silence for fear of being wished into the cornfield!!! You’re nowhere near as old as you try to appear.

Oh, my. Insight, you have. Sentiments, I share.

I mean, it's one thing when a new thread is started on an old, tired topic that doesn't currently have an active thread... it's a whole other thing when there's already an active thread, it's on the first page, right in front of everyone's faces, and three more threads on the same topic get started and are running at the same time.

Sure, I find mundane threads of the same old questions annoying, and people could try searching before asking the same question that's been asked 10,000 times... but such threads help keep a forum alive. It's mildly annoying at best.

It's completely infuriating though when people are so indolent that they can't take 2 seconds to see that something is right in front of their face where they don't have to even search for it, just have to open their eyes, before duplicating it. So, I get it, and that kind of thing, to me, deserves to get called out and pointed out and mocked.

No specific topic needs multiple concurrently running threads that all have the same general focus on the topic. Creates way too much unnecessary fragmentation.

What happened with Sutliff? Too lazy to read for myself.

Sutliff and all the follow-on to come certainly wasn’t on my list of things to expect for 2024. I’ve got plenty cellared but many don’t. I hope they at least learn to cellar their favorites to the extent that they’re able.

That cuts both ways. If everyone is free "to express their thoughts and opinions," then one is free to express their thoughts and opinions on how everyone else's thoughts and opinions are stupid or mundane. It's the George Carlin interpretation of freedom of speech writ large.

That being said, as much as I enjoy the playful ribbing, it does seem to be unfair to whine about people talking about the Sutliff ordeal too much. This is a pipe smoking forum, and that topic is some of the biggest news concerning such in a long time. What else are they going to talk about? It sure beats another thread where people keep evoking the spirit of Orwell's 1984 every time some unimportant bureaucrat has the temerity to suggest that efforts be made to get people to smoke less. puffy
Everyone is also free to keep their thoughts and opinions to themselves.
