McClelland Bulk: 2015 - Virginia / Perique Flake...Comments on the Blend

You'll not go far wrong with McClelland on anything Virginia, the same way a C&D burley blend is likely to be a good one if you like burley.

Agreed the tin note is odd but the smoke is great.
Mso I have only tried C&D Opening Night. I'll endeavour to try some of their burley offerings.

Dave, absolutely, they (the three that I have tried) smoke just fine, it's just the tin note I can't abide. No other blend have I ever experienced has had that stench so what is it that McClelland sprays their tobacco with?
Methinks it must be some kind of mould inhibitor.

As a dyed-in-the-wool McClellands and Anniversary Kake fan, this thread has been a joy to read. But I wish that I had read it before shipping off oldreddogs Secret Santa. I had you pegged as a Captain Black Grape kind of guy.

Smoking it as I type.

It's a terrific value.. the signature mcclelland scent isn't so strong with this blend as many tinned ones.
I've been able to condition myself... when I smell a new mcclelland blend and it wreaks of vinegar, I salivate. The stronger the smell the tastier the smoke.

I was delighted to receive yet more samples from Dave (aka Oldreddog) yesterday and one of which was some 2015.
A very nice coarse cut VaPer it is though IMHO just pipped by St. James Flake.
