I heard it was one dependent on the recent great shut down of McB and Sutliff. Maybe I what I saw was inaccurate. A LOT of blends are dying over the next months. its best to check it out. I hope Im wrong.

I am out of my element here but I am surprised a blend manufactured by C&D would depend on Sutliff or MB.

I found this. It looks like, until a couple of days ago, TobaccoReviews.com mistakenly listed Fr. Dempsey as being manufactured by Sutliff. In 2017 manufacturing switched from Sutliff to C&D.

I’m just about out so this popped up at timely moment!

My last order aged into a really plummy nose — it is possible it was my first that was from C &D. And I don’t mean this as bad just different.

Have a good day everyone!

Well that certainly explains why I had to throw out my jar of Father Dempsey last month due to mold growth! 😅

Id buy more of it and start a search for something completely different. Its really nice to have a range of tobaccos you like as opposed to another one like it.

For me, Fr. Dempsey has a light barn note that I associate with some Latakia blends, and also a faint lavendar note. A couple people say that Fr. Dempsey is like Catholic incense for them. For me, that faint lavendar note reminds me of faint lavendar Catholic incense. However, I'm not sure how real that "incense" part of the smell is, or if I'm imagining it due to people's reviews and due to the name "Fr. Dempsey." The blend was originally made for a RC priest (not for use as church incense though).

I haven't exactly found anything with that combination of light Latakia and light lavendar.
The closest was Kendal Flake because it had a combination of a horse and old tobacco smell on one hand and a perfumey note on the other.

Someone earlier in the thread suggested Northwoods, but for me Northwoods had a thick soapy note instead of a light lavendar one.
