I have Seven Seas Gold Blend, Black Ambrosia and Honey Chocolate. The Seven Seas was my first tobacco ever. I think it was a good way to pop my cherry. Pretty smooth but quickly taught me how to avoid bite. I had to respect it and slow down. The Black Ambrosia was unimpressive the first smoke but much better the second. The verdict isn't out on Honey Chocolate yet. It smells great but....idk. Looking forward to Seven Seas black and red.

I've always avoided Mac Baren's because of their reputation for being bitey.

Boy, was that a mistake! I think Roll Cake is excellent.

I'm currently into my 2nd tin of Virginia #1, and it is superb! Could easily be my "desert island smoke". :puffy:

I have got 7 Seas Regular, Vintage Syrian and Vanilla Cream on order with pipesandcigars - I will throw in my two cents when they arrive and I get to try them. :)

i just smoked the first bowl of the vanilla cream flake and it was a great smoke. Had a little trouble on the initial light but that tends to happen with me with flakes. After that though it smoked cool and slow and the vanilla flavor is definitely there but not over powering at all, i tasted rum and sweetness possibly a little caramel but either way it was a smooth smoke and i enoyed it very much. Might just have another bowl to finish my night later tonight, seems like it would be a good last taste to have.

The 7 Seas Black I got could use some drying time. Anyone else have to do this as well?

I had some Navy Flake last night. It makes a huge difference to stuff'n'fold instead of rubbing it out. Very tasty.

I've got some Plumcake that's aging nicely. The one thing I've found with it is that you have to be careful with it. If I smoke too fast, it's a flamethrower on my tongue. But when I have taken my time it's been the source of some of my most enjoyable smokes ever. This morning was no exception. I think that the new pipe helped as well.

Would there be any benefit to aging 7 seas royal?? its stamped from july 2010 and i was just wondering if i should pop the tin now or give it a while to age if it will make the smoke more enjoyable??

HH Vintage Syrian and The Solent are favorite morning blends for me. They are Syrian latakia, not the more common Cyprian. I also smoke Burley London and Mixture (Scottish Blend), but not a lot - maybe 100 grams a year. HH Vintage Virginia is tasty; I have a tin or two aging, and will get more. I am not a big aromatic smoker, but Vanilla Cream is nice. (Incidentally, Stanwell's Vanilla is also pretty good; lots of oriental in there. Smoke it in a big bowl to really let the flavors out.)

I have found - following tips from others, including MacBaren - that a good tip for enjoying these blends is to not be too concerned about your packing technique - pack 'em looser then you might other blends.

I have become a big fan of Plumcake - been smoking it every night for over a week now. The Vanilla Cream is also very tasty too.

Burley London Blend is one of my favorites (thanks again Tommy! Tommy? Where has Tommy been?), beating out Solani Burley Flake by a margin.

HH Highland was a pleasant surprise gift from a smokingpipes, com order, I'll be getting more of it at some point.

Honey & Chocolate is a guilty pleasure that I often add to other blends.

Haven't tried the Plumcake or Syrian yet, they're next on the list. Was hoping for a sample of the 7seas from my last order, but no such luck.

I have the 7 Seas Royal and enjoy it a lot. Picked up a tin of the Plum Cake this week and upon opening it I was confused? Not at all sweet or plum like and was not sure if I would like it. After lighting the first bowl, I loved it! I want to try the Scottish blend and the Navy flake next.

Mac Baren does burley very well, Dark Twist, Golden Extra, and London Blend are all excellent smokes. I rotate them all the time.

"Plum Cake" is more of a traditional English descriptive than it is a brand name. There have been a number of Plum Cake blends by various blenders over the years. Most have had a sweet Virginia base and are usually topped with rum. They're similar to "Navy Flake" or "Navy Cake" blends.
