I "lunt" about 99% of the time, at least in the winter. I don't smoke in the house, and it's too cold to sit on the balcony so, it is what it is. I do sit down in the summer though, outside, and almost always read. I found that I can handle wind up to 17 mph without any problems. (Yes, I have experimented). The pipe smokes faster, but it doesn't get too hot, etc. Never had a burn-out. I use a Zippo when it's windy.

Here
I spend 6-9 hours a day driving like a maniac* in urban traffic, delivering boxes, sometimes multiple and heavy ones, to 50-75 doorfront destinations.

Often my fat, 50 year old ass is bounding up 2 or 3 flights of apartment stairs with said encumbrances. By the time I get home, I'm often moving like the tin man before oiling.

I will enjoy my pipe in the evening, as I sit in a chair like a lazy lout, and drive cosmic bonkers!

EDIT to say, *obeying all traffic laws and customs, of course... ?

Most of my pipe smoking is out walking the doggies. I like to take them places where they are off the lead and free to smell things and hunt mice and such. At that point the walk becomes a leisurely saunter for me with the pipe. Sometimes I'll also have a flask with coffee which is particularly nice in the morning with burley. If I was walking to get somewhere fast or for serious exercise I imagine smoking a pipe would be unpleasant. As is I find it very nice provided the wind isn't too strong.
Slowly sauntering through fields and wood, enjoying a pipe, making natural history observations, all while the dogs run around, is a cherished part of my day.

I am a fast walker and bicyclist and would probably start coughing too much and look silly, if I smoked my pipe on my daily walks and bicycle rides, ha, hahahaupuffy

Am I missing something? I can not walk and smoke at the same time. It looks like a train going up a steep hill. Total mess and an overheated pipe. Give me a lawn chair and something to drink, I am way happier.

Last weekend I worked outside spring cleaning leaves, washing windows, etc while smoking some Carter Hall in a cob and it just does not work for me.

Lunting or yard work, I prefer to stop when smoking my pipe. In fact, most of the time I don’t even want to read a book either!

I do most things while smoking a pipe. Doing the dishes, cleaning cat boxes, doing laundry, sweeping, etc inside.
Outside on walks I always smoke a pipe. Makes it much more enjoyable whatever you are doing.
Working in the yard: pipe. Mowing: pipe. etc etc.

I call this being a pipesmoker.. not "lunting".

I walk and smoke in the am just about every day. I dont do that in the evening much because smoke stronger blends in the evening and as the nicotene hits me i walk slower and slower. I figure something like dark flake would leave me completely stationary.
