always hated this word. im sure ill get torched for saying that but youre walking around w a pipe. relax.
im not a big "lunter" myself but enjoy the occasional pipe while walking the dogs. Generally its a cheap cob w a hard packed shag so it doesnt need to be relit often, wont shake out, and is light enough to clench. Walking two large breed dogs can be tough and requires a leash in each hand

I'd just rather not smoke if I am just going to have to set in chair like a lazy lout. I never set down, unless I am working at my workbench or on a laptop. If I am smoking, I am walking the dog, working in the yard, working in the field, or something, always go go go...
I can't even stand to see other people setting down. If my kid's butts hit a chair, I am on them to get busy and stop being lazy. Drives me crazy.

I have had almost all negative experiences with this until yesterday. I took a walk on a path at a local state park ...I didn't clench the pipe and tried to take some nice even draws every once in a while. I think smoking a flake (virginia slices) helped with the temperature and also having the thing lit and going at a nice controlled rate before I started walking helped to avoid any over-choochin'. ...probably just a fluke experience but was a nice change from my previous experiences.

I am a desk rat ... if I can get glued to a chair and work indoors, talk to people, do my reading, do my stats, do whatever on a computer I do enjoy the pipe. Although lunting has its charm as well. I did observe that while lunting the pipe burns faster, especially if it's a slight windy outside. If you are walking during a huricane I do advise to leave the pipe at home ... A wind cap helps, by they way. Give that a shot.

A breeze makes clenching so much easier, you don't even have to puff or worry about breathsmoking, just stand there, and the smoke will circulate slowly through your mouth.

We spent Christmas at the beach in Pensacola, and my best smoke was standing with my feet in the water and a pipe in my mouth, just letting the ocean breeze do all the work for me. It was a pretty amazing smoke. That is the closest to "doing nothing" that I get while smoking, ha ha. And, I had a fishing pole in my hand.

trust me it's best not to mix those two. It all seems great until your partner does one of those moves and you have to make some noise and the ash and embers go flying everywhere. Best afterwards.

this is true. Plus, doesn't she deserve your full attention for those 3 and 1/2 minut..... I mean hours? If course I mean hours cuz I am a manly stud! Yeah! Whew, that was close.

The word lunting just bothers me. Who tf came up with a special name for walking and smoking? I previously thought lunting was a word English guys used to describe "old men playing in the woods", more than hiking but less than camping? Also, I agree with @olkofri that there's no rule saying you have to clench while you walk and smoke.

I prefer to smoke while I'm sitting. My pipe is my relaxing time and it doesn't happen often. I like to savour and focus on my pipe. It's not a nicotine fix for me, it's purely pleasure, and I don't want to waste a moment of it while fucking around with something else

I've done it with some success, but I'm so particular with tamping and all that I prefer being stationary. I prefer a cigar of I'm walking/hiking. Although I do most of my smoking indoors, I think of I had to smoke exclusively outdoors I would do it while ambulating.
