Am I an outlier? I love technology. Be it internet, web forums, usenet, fancy webpages, iPhones, great cars, 4K TV, etc. (including 700 channels, with a dozen being worthwhile)

An aside: I have always been adverse to talking on the phone. Of course I do, so people know I like them, or because there is business to be done. But it has never felt sociable or friendly to me. Most people seem to dive right in and chat at will, but to me it is a staring contest with the phone to get up momentum to talk, even with those I like. So if Big Brother is listening, he has little to listen to, and not much content then.

An aside: I have always been adverse to talking on the phone...
Funny, I didn't mind it about 15 years ago. Now every time somebody calls, I say "Jesus, don't these people know how to send a text message??? Make me stop what I'm doing* and answer the phone, grumble grumble grumble..."

I think it's exciting to have seen all the incredible advances in technology that have happened during my lifetime, and hope to be around long enough to have my functional head preserved in a glass jar on a shelf next to Richard Nixon's, or better yet the cyborg thing but in an Iron Man body instead of RoboCop.

I like to go down the internet rabbit hole and read articles about things like the simulation theory, "post-humanity", and cosmology. I also like to read articles that I usually don't understand about really really hard math on Quantamagazine.org.

*Usually it's nothing.

Tell that to Boston Dynamics.

I would say the computer is the largest (most important?) advancement. The internet, robots, smartphones, banking etc. etc... have computers as their foundation to build on. I fear society is becoming an upside down pyramid with the little tiny piece at the bottom being a computer, and everything in society, above it, balancing upon it.

I came from a world where there was no internet, 5 tv channels with 2 being UHF. Now I have my choice of 800 or so channels and the internet and a computer for a cell phone. There are times when I hate the new technology and times when I love it. I remember having loads of maps to get around my territory of New Englander, loads of quarters and payphones on every corner. I was a mfg rep in the Jewelry and I had a book that gave me the ratings of who had good credit ratings and who had lousy credit. After that job I went into the car business and it was like shooting ducks in a barrel as I didn't have to chase down a possible quality customer. When I wrote a deal for someone who bought a car, I only needed to call the bank to check their credit and that was easy.
The early computers that checked peoples credit ratings were great and it was fast. When Windows 95 came out it was like a whole new world came out and was so simple. I have Windows 10 on my computers now and it sucks and is way too complicated compared to Windows 95.

My Iphone is a pain in the ass and I also wish Windows XP was still available. Now I am old and hate the new Windows 10.
I don't know why they keep upgrading to computers that are much more difficult

The older I get the more difficult it seems to get. I am getting much more stupid it seems these days.
