I remember seeing a number of new 2019 POTYs when I was looking around a while ago. What finish are you looking for?

And yes, the 999 need to be restored to it's full, rotund glory.
I have a smooth. But there were also the smooth natural, the ebony, and the sandblast. Preferably another smooth, but I wouldn't mind a blast either. I'm considering the ebony posted earlier anyway, but might remove the finish since it's flawed anyway.

I’ve said it before, I want them to quit dicking around and get this one out.

It was funny when they claimed to be replicating his pipe with the 140th Anniversary pipe. Also curious the way they replicated the 4AB, also not paying much attention to the shank or band. 'Tribute' pipes maybe, but hardly replications. I'd like to see CP's pipe with a proper silver band, and a 4AB with a proper bell-shaped ferrule. A 308 with a super-fat shank like some of them had, along with the fat bell ferrule, would be really special.

Also, a properly-done 777 or real swan-neck 160X - the 160-ish 2023 POTY was a good tribute though.

Can you post a pic of the bell ferrules you mention?

Super-fat shank 308, followed by a thinner-ferrule 309 (stamped 3160). These are as opposed to the flat-top ferrules they now do. I would have like to have seen them bring back the bells for some of the tribute pipes, but I understand if it's a production issue. At bottom, a 4AB from the 1906 catalog.

Added at bottom: Giacomo Penzo '309' shape done for M.Irwin. He works for Peterson and this shows that he still can do (and likes?) the bell-shaped ferules.

That superfat 308 is amazing! Yes, they need to bring back these ferrules along with the old shaping.

I would love to see them bring back the 308.
To me it's the most classic of all Peterson shapes. It was great that they re-introduced the 309 Friday, especially in the spigot shapes. But as I looked at each of the smooth pipes I realized that nothing they create these days will ever compete with the old ones that are still available. I think that's even more true with the 308 shape. I absolutely would buy a brand new 308 or 309, but it would have to be something really special, like a silver ferrule 'natural'. And the drilling would have to be good, and the plip bit would have to be even - not the hole off-center like so many are these days.

This guy...

...is who you want to talk to about shapes and current vs. historical production.

I've talked to him several times about the subject, and he is very keen on giving people what they want. It's part of the direction Peterson is headed since Laudisi took over.

(No worries about him being an admin sort, either. He's in the shop every day, and knows the processes and the reasons for those processes as only a hands-on guy can.)

Like Jim Amash (Jiminks), I would like Peterson to bring back the XL155 Bulldog (which Nigel Bruce smoked in two Sherlock Holmes movies).
That would be a good one to see. I've looked at loads of stills of Bruce smoking his Bulldog, and don't buy into the idea that it was an XL155 - it doesn't look quite right. It might be, but it could also be a chubby bulldog made by just about any company in existence at the time - he smoked pipes by a lot of different makers.
