I have decide my favorite shape for a pipe is a pipe with a flat stem. I like them straight, 1/4 bent, 1/2 bent, it doesn't really matter. I just like the thin feel of the flat stem and the wider, the better.

Is a lovat strictly a straight pipe with a flat stem, or is it any pipe with a flat stem whether it be bent or straight? I often wondered.
I prefer the saddle stemmed billiard. That and a half bent billiard are by far my best smoking tools.

The Lovat is one of my very favorite shapes. But the Liverpool is too. I find the non saddle stems on Castello 12’s (Liverpool) I have owned over the years to be as comfortable as those on 14 and 75’s. Same comparison would hold true with Radice.

Some stems are well made. Some aren’t. What might be a well made stem to me might not be to you, or vice versa.

That could almost be a billiard with a shank that is borderline too short for a Lumberman. Then again, is an oval shank billiard still a billiard?
Good question. I never knew there were any hard and fast rules about it, but apparently it's supposed to have certain proportions. As far as I'm concerned it's a Lumberman, and that's what Altinay called it. But that status was disputed here once before due to it's less than ideal proportions.

A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.... er, wait...

What're the dimensions on yours again? It might be just within canonical dimensions for a Lumberman.

So, the stem is 133 mm long? If so, it's a Lumberman: 133 mm > (58 mm) * 2.

?
You know, I got those dimensions from the listing on their site...but I just measured it myself and it is not correct.

The bowl dimensions are pretty close...but the total pipe length is 6.25 inches. The shank is 2.5 inches and the stem is a little over 2.25 inches.

EDIT: I don't do mm. That's Canadian stuff.

4.75" is still > 4.52".

Bear in mind, I'm calling "stem" the whole part from the spot it joins the bowl to the tip. What others call stem I call the "mouthpiece". So, to me shank + mouthpiece = stem.

Aaaand, others claim that the mouthpiece doesn't count in terms of judging dimensions to group pipes into a category. So, to them, your pipe is a mere billiard with a saddle stem.

OK, I guess I was wrong all along ? :

Yeah, the mouthpiece doesn't count, it's the wood alone that must meet the specified dimensions.

Makes sense, though, otherwise even my Prince would be in the Canadian family.
